Our Story

In 2005 Jim Garrison convinced me to leave San Diego and move up to Medford to explore the idea of one day taking over his business (then called Wholesale Furniture Outlet). Having never been in retail, let alone furniture retail, I decided it would be best to work for my dad for at least a year to see if I could handle the culture shock of moving from San Diego to Medford and develop a passion for a business I knew nothing of.

The first was easy. I absolutely fell in love with Southern Oregon. How could you not? Beautiful country, great weather, and a general sense of community that you certainly never find in Southern California; there was really nothing I didn't love about the area. The business, on the other hand, I struggled a little more with. After a year I decided that the only way I could truly fall in love with the business was if I started over and opened MY store, not my father's store.

Garrison's Home Furnishing opened on January 18th, 2007. I really didn't know the first thing about furniture. Fortunately I was lucky enough to have two great leaders working for me: Daniel Shaddox my Sales Manager and Derek Patterson my Operations Manager. These two had many years of experience in the furniture world. Without the help of these two (to this day) there is no way Garrison's would have succeeded.

My experience prior to opening Garrison's was in the Hospitality industry. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a hospitality management degree, worked for Disney World, and then landed with Hyatt Hotels where I spent the next four years as a manager of two different properties in San Diego. These companies are all about creating an environment with exceptional service, a dynamic that I felt was completely missed by almost every furniture store I had been exposed to. I decided that this would be the primary focus of Garrison's Home Furnishings. From day one our entire staff bought into the belief that our commitment to providing exceptional service within the furniture retail experience would be the key to our success.

When you walk into Garrison's Home Furnishings or Garrison's Mattress Gallery you will be greeted by a furniture or sleep specialist. Every single one of them loves what they do, and their sole interest is to solve your problem, not just sell you something to make a buck. It's a very low pressure, highly informative environment. Combine this with a delivery staff that loves what they do and a full service department trained to address any problems that may occur after you beautiful new furniture has been delivered and we've completed the full circle of service that Garrison's is fully committed to. It's our corporate culture. We know that if you have a great experience when you buy from us, a great experience when you have your beautiful new furniture delivered, and our commitment to take care of you if something goes wrong, chances are you'll not only come back when you need something in the future, but tell your friends and family to come see us as well.

There is not a doubt in my mind it's this unbridled commitment to service that has been the key to our success and growth. In 2007 we had 8 employees, as of Septmeber 2014 we have 25. I take great pride in the fact that each of these employees loves what they do. When we find good people we take care of them and, in turn, they take care of you. This is why we have extremely low turnover for the furniture industry.

We have made a commitment to sell product made in the USA whenever possible. Currently about 70% of our entire inventory is 100% American Made!

We have established ourselves as the premier place in Southern Oregon for quality furniture. We are not, and do not want to be, the cheapest furniture store in town. But this doesn't mean we are too expensive either. We have a wide range of pricing in every category; living room, bedroom, dining room, home office, and mattress and there isn't a piece of furniture in my store I wouldn't put in my own house.
